Start with an identical party
Use the same dates, adult count and each child’s age at check-in. Do not substitute three adults for two adults and a child just to obtain a result. The price, permitted occupancy and sleeping arrangements may then describe a different product. If you need two rooms, a quote for one accommodation unit does not cover the whole party.
The room: more than the word Deluxe
Compare the complete category name, building or block, view and layout. Side sea view, full sea view and land-side rooms should remain separate comparison items. “Pool access” does not automatically confirm a private pool. If the description does not specify bedrooms or beds, ask before choosing rather than inferring them from a photograph.
Meals and services for your dates
Record the board basis for every offer. Do not compare breakfast and All Inclusive as the same rate. For services that matter most to you — à la carte dining, attraction access or sports — check the actual conditions. A hotel name or rate abbreviation does not describe every reservation requirement, limit or operating date.
Cancellation and the final amount
Compare the exact free-cancellation deadline, time zone and later penalties, not just a “refundable” label. Then compare whole-stay totals in the same currency. When some fees are paid at the property, record both the total cost and payment split. Treat loyalty points or future cashback separately from the amount you pay now.
An example of a fair comparison
Offer A: the same dates, two adults, a garden-view Deluxe room, All Inclusive and free cancellation until a stated deadline. Offer B: the same room and guests, but non-refundable. Even if B is cheaper, the difference is not a discount on an identical product. Decide deliberately whether giving up flexibility is worth that difference to you.
Put it into practice
